AFERM is led by a group of 1st and 2nd year medical students from the University of Washington School of Medicine. They volunteer their time to coordinate the activities of the group and believe deeply in what AFERM stands for.

Leadership transitions take place in the fall of every new school year, let us know if you're interested!

Recruitment Committee: Recruit and train student and faculty mock interviewers.  Outreach to and coordinate mock interviews for SOM applicants who have been invited to interview at UW and who are from an underrepresented or disadvantaged background.  Discuss any questions or concerns applicants may have about the admissions process and the UW medical school experience, before and after their UW interview.
Mentorship Committee: Promotes diversity at UWSOM and encourages underrepresented students to pursue careers in medicine through mentoring relationships with premedical students in the WWAMI region. This year, AFERM is partnering with other CEDI (Center for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) organizations to provide mentorship for undergraduate students at both UW and SPU through the Minority Association of Prehealth Students, CCM, and other undergraduate student organizations. We have also developed new relationships with several Washington State Community Colleges.
